Mouse pointer will not move

The battery, sensor, surface or connection may be responsible.

Stop if unsure or if a new warning appears. Save your work before changes and ask IT before changing a work device. Never disclose passwords or recovery keys.

Check whether only the mouse is affected: does the keyboard respond, for example to the Windows key? If nothing responds, search for “PC freezes”.
Check the mouse power switch and battery. Plug a USB receiver directly into the PC, not into a distant hub.
Use a matte, even surface instead of glass. Gently clean the sensor opening with a dry soft cloth.
If possible, test another mouse on the same PC. Do not dismantle the mouse or install unfamiliar driver software.
