TV: picture, sound and connection

Safely check inputs and connected devices

Read the complete step before making changes. Stop if unsure or if new warnings appear.

  1. Stop using the device if there is smoke, a burning smell, crackling or visible cable damage. Disconnect power only if safe; in a fire, keep away and call 112 in Germany/EU. Never open a TV or power supply. Otherwise identify whether picture, sound, reception or just a streaming app fails. Find the matching entry under TV / Smart TV.

  2. Turn on the TV and receiver, console or PC. Check whether the TV menu is visible.

  3. Press Source/Input on the remote and select the HDMI socket actually used by the cable, such as HDMI 1.

  4. Turn both devices off, check that the HDMI cable is secure, then restart them. Do not force damaged or tight connectors.

  5. Try another suitable cable or HDMI input. For aerial reception, check the connection and provider; retuning can change the channel list.
