Printer does not print

Is the printer turned on? Is a warning light on or is there a message on the display? Load paper and check ink or toner using the printer menu. Only remove paper jams according to the manufacturer's instructions; Parts in the laser printer can be hot.

For USB, make sure the cable is firmly connected at both ends, preferably directly to the PC. For Wi-Fi, the PC and printer must be on the same home network, not separate guest networks. Check the network name in the printer’s Wi-Fi menu.

Windows 11: Start → Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners. Windows 10: Start → Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners. Select your printer.

If necessary, turn off “Let Windows manage my default printer” in Printers & scanners. Windows 11: select your printer → Set as default. Windows 10: select your printer → Manage → Set as default. Also check that the correct printer is selected in the app’s Print dialog.

Windows 11: Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → select your printer → Open print queue. Windows 10: Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners → select your printer → Open queue. Right-click a stuck job and choose Cancel, then confirm. Depending on the view, the Printer menu may also offer Cancel All Documents. Wait a moment. This cancels print jobs, not your original documents. If a job remains stuck, restart the printer and PC and try again. On a shared printer, cancel only your own jobs or ask your IT team.

Save your work. Turn the printer off using its on/off button, wait a moment and turn it back on. Restart Windows via Start → Power → Restart. Then just print a test page.

Download the appropriate driver for the exact model and your Windows version only from the manufacturer's website. For wireless printers, have the network name ready. Follow the installation wizard; Don't connect the USB cable until it asks you to do so. IT does this on a company PC.
