Laptop gets hot and fan is loud

High load or blocked ventilation may cause heat; a fault is also possible.

Stop using or charging a swollen battery or unusually hot device. Keep away from smoke or damaged wiring; do not open batteries or power supplies.

Stop using it if there is a burning smell, smoke, a bulging case or repeated shutdowns. Do not continue with stress tests.
Place the laptop on a firm, clear surface. Bedding, sofas and cushions can block vents.
Save your work and close unneeded apps. Task Manager’s Processes view shows whether a familiar app is continuously using a lot of CPU; do not end unfamiliar system processes.
Let it cool. If it remains unusually hot under light use, have ventilation and hardware checked professionally. Do not put liquids or objects into vents.
