Graphics driver crashes during games

The driver, overheating, power delivery or the game itself may be involved.

Stop if there is smoke, a burning smell or severe graphics corruption under load. Avoid speculative stress tests, overclocking or power-supply work.

Record the game, error message and time. Save your work and restart the PC.
Try another game and initially lower graphics detail or frame rate. Avoid prolonged stress tests during repeated crashes.
Install the appropriate driver from the PC maker, AMD, Intel or NVIDIA. For laptops, check the model support page first. Do not install several driver packages at once.
Keep external vents clear. Do not open power supplies or change arbitrary voltage settings. If multiple games still crash with an appropriate driver, arrange qualified hardware diagnosis.
