0x80073D02 – App files are currently in use

An app cannot be updated because associated resources are still in use.

Stop if unsure or if a new warning appears. Save your work before changes and ask IT before changing a work device. Never disclose passwords or recovery keys.

Close the affected app and all associated windows.
Save open work and restart Windows. Then first open the Microsoft Store and update the app.
If the error persists, note the app name and repair the app if this option is offered under Settings → Apps.

Test after each step and stop when the issue is solved. Checkmarks are not permanently saved.
