No sound – Windows makes no sound

Incorrect output device, mute or driver.

Stop if unsure or if a new warning appears. Save your work before changes and ask IT before changing a work device. Never disclose passwords or recovery keys.

Check the speaker symbol at the bottom right.
Select the correct output device.
Use Windows Audio troubleshooter.
Obtain drivers via Windows Update or the official website of the PC/device manufacturer.

Test after each step and stop when the issue is solved. Checkmarks are not permanently saved.
